Jarrow
town in north-east England, located on the River Tyne
History
changeRomans had set up a fort near Jarrow in the 1st century. Later in the 5th century, Anglo-Saxons occupied the location. It is not well known when Jarrow was first built. The name of "Jarrow" has been used from 750. The monastery of St Paul is the sister monastery of Monkwearmouth in Sunderland.
Today
changeJarrow is part of the Metropolitan Borough of South Tyneside.
