History

change

Jio was officially launched on 27 December 2015, although it began as an idea under the guidance of Mukesh Ambani, chairman of Reliance Industries, in the early 2010s. Jio’s rollout started with an extended trial phase that offered free voice calls and data, a strategy that attracted millions of subscribers. By September 2016, Jio's full commercial operations began, introducing free voice calls and low-cost data plans. This pricing structure forced competitors to lower their rates and accelerated internet adoption across India.[2]
