José Luis Álvarez

Spanish politician and diplomat (1930-2023)

José Luis Álvarez y Álvarez (4 April 1930 – 23 August 2023) was a Spanish politician. He was born in Madrid. He was Madrid's mayor from March 3, 1978 to January 5, 1979.[1] Afterwards, he worked under the ministries of Adolfo Suárez and Leopoldo Calvo Sotelo as Minister of Transport and Communications from 1980 to 1981 and as Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food from 1981 to 1982.

Álvarez died at home in Cape Palos, Cartagena, Spain on 23 August 2023, at the age of 93.[2]
