José de Bastos

Portuguese association football player

José Manuel de Bastos (17 October 1929 – 23 November 2020) was a Portuguese footballer. He played as goalkeeper.

Bastos played for Benfica. Bastos played in their 1950 Latin Cup victory over Bordeaux and became the last surviving player from that game. He remained at Benfica until 1961. From 1978 to 1980 he was manager of G.D. Estoril Praia.

After Benfica, Bastos played for Beira-Mar and Atlético.[1]

Bastos died in Cascais, Portugal on 23 November 2020, aged 91.[2]
