Juan Formell
Cuban musician (1942–2014)
Juan Clímaco Formell Fortuna[1][2] (2 August 1942 – 1 May 2014) was a Cuban musician, bassist, composer, and arranger. He was best known as the director of Los Van Van Orchestra. He began a career in the music industry in 1957. He was a Grammy Award in the Latin/Best Salsa Performance category for his work on the album "Van Van is Here (Llegó Van Van)" in 1999. He was born in Havana.
Formell died on 1 May 2014 in Havana, aged 71.[3]
