The predecessor of KDB Bank Hungary was established in 1989 under the name Daewoo Bank Hungary. In July 2002, the Korea Development Bank acquired Daewoo Bank, and the Hungarian subsidiary was renamed after its new parent company.[2] In April 2004, KDB invested $20 million into the company. In March 2006, the bank became a private limited company, and in September, the parent company increased its capital by 6 billion forint. One of the bank's products won the "Retail Bank Card of the Year" award in 2007.
