Katoch is a Chandravanshi Rajput clan.[1] They are found in the Indian states of Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, and Uttarakhand, and the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Traditionally resided in Kangra Fort, Trigarta Kingdom, Jalandhar, Multan.[2]
King Porus or Poros(326–321 BC) belonged to the Katoch clan of the Rajputs[3][4] who ruled the areas of the region between the Jhelum River (Hydaspes) and Chenab River (Acesines), in the Punjab region of India and northeastern Pakistan.[5] The Kangra fort of Himachal Pradesh was once the capital of King Porus Katoch.[6] Presently, the King Thakur Aishwarya Chandra Katoch is the 489th titular king of the erstwhile royal Katoch family of Kangra.[7] He is the Director of Kangra Group, India BullsGroup and Royal Expeditions, and has been actively promoting Kangra as a tourist destination internationally.[8]Thus, King Porus or Puru belonged to Katoch clan of the Rajput caste.[9]
