Kern (soldier)
Gaelic soldier, specifically a light infantryman in Ireland during the Middle Ages
A kern was a Gaelic warrior who fought in Ireland during the late Middle Ages. They were known for being light infantrymen, which means they were skilled at fighting on foot and were not heavily armoured.[1][2]
