La Mákina was a Puerto Rican merengue band. It started in the 1990s. Fernando Colon (a past bassist for Los Sabrosos del Merengue) and Orlando Santana (who worked with Wilfrido Vargas and Toño Rosario) organized the group. Many of the group's songs have ranked on the Hot Latin Songs chart in the United States.[1] The band received a nomination for Tropical New Artist of the Year at the 1997 Lo Nuestro Awards. Anthony Maldonado was the lead singer of the band, but he left in 2000, because he wanted to become a solo singer.
