Liberal Democratic Party of Germany
German political party
The Liberal Democratic Party of Germany (Liberal-Demokratische Partei Deutschlands, LDP, or LDPD) was created in 1945, in the zone occupied by the Soviet Union (that would later become the German Democratic Republic, DDR). Originally, it had liberal views. It was one of the bloc parties of the Sozialistische Einheitspartei Deutschlands. Together with Liberal parties in West Germany, they wanted to form a single Liberal party, wich they called Democratic Party of Germany, ("Demokratische Partei Deutschlands"). After the German Unification, they joined the FDP.
