The Liberal Democratic Party of Germany (Liberal-Demokratische Partei Deutschlands, LDP, or LDPD) was a liberal oriented party founded in 1945 in the zone occupied by the Soviet Union (that would later become the German Democratic Republic, DDR). After a series of mergers with other political parties, the party became part of the FDP in 1990.
