1998
- In 1998 was the first time that an openly transgender person won the Eurovision Song Contest.

2009
- In 2009 [American] daytime TV's first lesbian wedding, was shown.^[1]

2012
- the first Jamaican artist to publicly come out; She did so on 28 June 2012; She wrote "Yes I am a Lesbian" ,to her fans from her official Facebook web page.^[2]^[3]
