LoRa (short for "Long Range") was created in 2014 by a company called Cycleo to send and receive radio signals that can handle a lot of noise while using very little power. It works by turning data into special sounds called "chirps". Each chirp is a signal that changes its frequency over time. This makes it very resistant to noise as these chirps use many pitches and last a long time which allows for more opportunities to decode them. However, this also means sending data with LoRa can take a lot more time, so it is commonly used for only sending small messages.
