Louisiana (also known as Brooklyn and Salem) is a ghost town in Douglas County, in the U.S. state of Kansas.[1][2]
History
changeLouisiana was created in 1855. It was close to the Santa Fe Trail. It had many things for travelers, including an inn, a saloon, a stable, and a store.[2] A post office was created at Louisiana in 1856, but it closed in 1857.[3] After William Quantrill's Raiders destroyed nearby Lawrence On August 21, 1863, they came to Louisiana and burned the town to the ground. The only building left was the saloon. The town became a ghost town shortly after.[2]
