Windows Live Messenger is an instant messenger that is the most-used in the world.[source?] It is made by the Windows Live section of Microsoft. It used to be called MSN Messenger before MSN was changed into Windows Live. Microsoft announced that they were retiring Windows Live Messenger (except for China) in favor of Skype.[1]
