María Elena Velasco
Mexican actress, comedian, singer-songwriter and dancer (1940–2015)
María Elena Velasco Fragoso (December 17, 1940 - May 1, 2015) was a Mexican actress, comedienne, singer-songwriter, dancer, screenwriter, movie producer, and one of Mexico's few major female movie directors.[1][2] She was best known for creating and portraying La India María, a comical character based on indigenous Mexican women.
