Matt Murdock (Marvel Cinematic Universe)
Matthew Michael "Matt" Murdock is a fictional character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, portrayed by Charlie Cox. Based on the Marvel Comics superhero of the same name, he is a lawyer by day and a vigilante known as Daredevil by night in Hell's Kitchen, New York City. Despite being blind, Murdock has heightened other senses that allow him to navigate and fight with extraordinary ability.
He first appeared in the Netflix series Daredevil (2015-2018) and was part of the Defenders team. Charlie Cox has also reprised the role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, appearing in Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) and the Disney+ series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (2022), Echo (2024), and the upcoming series Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man and Daredevil: Born Again (both in 2025).
His backstory involves being blinded as a child by a chemical accident, trained in martial arts by Stick, and motivated to fight crime after his father, a boxer, was killed by criminals.
