Michael Curry (bishop)

Presiding Bishop of The Episcopal Church

Michael Bruce Curry (born March 13, 1953) is an American bishop. He was the 27th presiding bishop and primate of The Episcopal Church. He was the presiding bishop from 2015 to 2024.[1]

He is the first African American to be presiding bishop in The Episcopal Church. He was previously bishop of the Diocese of North Carolina. He was born in Chicago.[2]
