Michael Martin, Baron Martin of Springburn
British politician (1945–2018)
Michael John Martin, Baron Martin of Springburn, PC (3 July 1945 – 29 April 2018) was a British Labour politician. He was the Member of Parliament (MP) for Glasgow Springburn from 1979 to 2005, and then for Glasgow North East until 2009. He was an MP until his election as Speaker of the House of Commons in 2000, and was Speaker for nine years until his resignation in 2009.[1] He also stood down from the House of Commons on the following day.[2]

Martin died in the morning of the 29 April 2018 of a short-illness at the age of 72.[3][4]
