Michael Slive

Michael Lawrence Slive (July 26, 1940 – May 16, 2018) was an American attorney and college sports executive. He was born in Utica, New York.
Slive was the commissioner of the Southeastern Conference (SEC) from 2002 until 2015.[1] He served as the coordinator of the Bowl Championship Series for the 2006 and 2007 regular seasons.[2] He was a member of the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Committee through September 2009[3] and served as the chairman of the committee for the 2008–09 academic year.[4] He retired as commissioner effective July 31, 2015.[5]
Slive died of prostate cancer in Birmingham, Alabama on May 16, 2018 at the age of 77.[6]
