Mjolnir (comics)
Mjolnir is a fictional weapon appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. It is most famously wielded by the superhero Thor, who is based on the Norse deity of the same name. Mjolnir, which first appears in Journey into Mystery #83 (Aug. 1962), was created by writers Stan Lee and Larry Lieber and designed by artists Jack Kirby and Joe Sinnott.
Mjolnir is depicted as a powerful and enchanted hammer that grants Thor incredible abilities, including control over lightning and weather, flight, and the ability to channel vast amounts of energy. In addition to its physical strength, Mjolnir can only be wielded by those who are deemed "worthy," adding an interesting element to its lore in the comics. The object is based on Mjölnir, the weapon of the mythological Thor.
