Monolithic dome

thin-shell structure cast in a one-piece form

A monolithic dome is a one-piece structure shaped like the top half of a sphere. Monolithic domes are usually made of concrete and are a form of monolithic architecture that resists destruction. Disasters like hurricanes, tornados and earthquakes may destroy monolithic domes, but they are a very resistant form of building.
