NHS Digital

UK government agency

NHS Digital was in charge of information systems for the National Health Service in England. It was set up in 2005. In February 2023 it was taken over by NHS England. [1]

It ran the Spine service for the NHS. That is a secure system for records about people treated by the NHS in England. This is needed for the Electronic Prescription Service, the Summary Care Record, the hospital appointment system and the Child Protection - Information Sharing system.

It produced a lot of statistics and ran the NHS website.[2]
