National Space Society
US nonprofit spaceflight advocacy organization
The National Space Society (NSS) is a 501(c)(3) space advocacy organization. It is a member of the Independent Charities of America and takes part in the Combined Federal Campaign every year. Its vision is "People living and working in thriving communities beyond the Earth, and the use of the vast resources of space for the dramatic betterment of humanity."[1]
It has four main goals:
- Defending Earth: Stopping dangerous objects from space hitting Earth (asteroid impact avoidance).
- Clean Energy from Space: Helping people use space solar power.
- Developing Space: Making use of space for many people.
- Space Settlement: Moving people to space, making humans live on multiple planets.
