National Velvet
1944 Technicolor sports film directed by Clarence Brown
National Velvet is a 1944 movie about horse racing. It stars Elizabeth Taylor and Mickey Rooney. It is based on a 1935 story by Enid Bagnold. The movie won two minor Academy Awards.[1] In 2003, National Velvet was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant."
