Newton C. Blanchard

Newton C. Blanchard was an American Democratic Party politician who served as governor of Louisiana from 1904 to 1908. During his tenure a wide range of reforms were carried out such as a minimum wage and maximum hour law, the establishment of state boards of forestry, charities, and corrections, higher spending for public schools, and a party primary system for choosing nominees for elective office.
