Otherkin

subculture

Otherkin is a subculture where people identify as a non-human thing.[1] Some otherkin believe their identity comes from a non-human spirit, ancestry,[2] or symbolism. People also believe that Otherkin get their identity from neurodivergence. The term has since been widespread, and it usually refers to many non-human identities, including therians.

Otherkin originally came from Online Communities in the 1990s when people started identifying as elves or other fantasy creatures.
