Paul Stroobants

Belgian carom billiards player

Paul Stroobants (26 April 1947 – 25 November 2024) was a Belgian three-cushion billiards player. He was two times world champion and won many other prizes at international tournaments.[1]

Biography

Stroobants became as a member of the Belgian natioan team two times world champion at the World Team Championships in 1990 and 1994.[2] The team also won the silver medal in 1991. Next to that he won with the national team the 1989 Trophée Européenne Pentatlon [nl]. In 1990 and 1993 he won the bronze medal individually at the CEB European Three-cushion Championship.[3] He also finished third at a Three-cushion Grand Prix in 1993.[4][5] He competed at many Three-Cushion World Cup events between 1986 and 1996. Stroobants became Belgian 3-cushion champion [nl] in 1989, 1990 and 1992.[6]

Stoobants was a member of Leuven Billiards Club Zanzibar for 68 years. He also served as the chairman for many years.[2]

After being ill for many years, Stroobants died in UZ Leuven on 25 November 2024, at the age of 77 years old.[7][2][8]
