Penaia Ganilau
President of Fiji and Governor-General of Fiji (1918-1993)
Ratu Sir Penaia Kanatabatu Ganilau GCMG KCVO KBE DSO ED (28 July 1918 – 15 December 1993) was the first President of Fiji, serving from 8 December 1987 until his death in 1993. He was Governor-General of Fiji from 12 February 1983 to 15 October 1987.

Ganilau died on 15 December 1993 in Washington, D.C. from sepsis caused by leukemia at the age of 75.[3]
