Peter Walton (born 10 October 1959) is an English former professional football referee.

Life and work

He officiated in the Premier League from 2003 to 2012. As of 2013, he was general manager of the Professional Referees Organization (PRO) in North America until he was replaced by Howard Webb in January 2018. He is currently a football analyst for BT Sport.

Walton is also a former United Counties League player. He lives in Long Buckby, Northamptonshire, the town where he used to play football. He lists his interests as current affairs and golf. During his professional career for nearly 20 years, Walton refereed a number of notable matches. These include the 2003 Football League Trophy Final and the 2008 FA Community Shield.
