Philippe Jaccottet
Swiss poet (1925-2021)
Philippe Jaccottet (French: [filip ʒakotɛ]; 30 June 1925 – 24 February 2021) was a Swiss Francophone poet and translator. He was born in Moudon, Switzerland.
He translated the writings of Goethe, Hölderlin, Mann, Mandelstam, Góngora, Leopardi, Musil, Rilke, Homer and Ungaretti.
In 2014, Jaccottet became the fifteenth living author to be published in the prestigious Bibliothèque de la Pléiade.[1][2]
Jaccottet died in Grignan, France, on 24 February 2021 at the age of 95.[3]
