A vault made laying bricks against an existing wall

A pitched-brick vault is a vault made laying bricks against an existing wall. This allows to complete the vault without using any other support.

In a pitched-brick vault the bricks are pitched against an existing wall.

Examples have been found in archaeological excavations in Mesopotamia dating to the 2nd and 3rd millennium BCE,[1] which were set in plaster.
