Piz Buin

mountain in the Silvretta at the border Vorarlberg / Grisons

Piz Buin is a mountain in the Swiss Alps. It is located at the border of Switzerland and Austria. It is the third-highest in the Silvretta, and the highest peak in Vorarlberg. There are two glaciers on the base of the mountain. The river Ill has its source there too. There is an artificial reservoir, the Silvretta Stausee, which was built in the 1940s. There is a pass, at an altitude of 2,797 metres (9,177 ft). In the Silvretta, the Piz Linard and the Fluchthorn are higher.
