Rawalpindi District

Rawalpindi District (Urdu: ضلع راولپنڈی) is a district in the Punjab province of Pakistan. The city of Rawalpindi is the capital. The district is divided into seven tehsils, these are:
- Gujar Khan Tehsil
- Kahuta Tehsil
- Kallar Syedan Tehsil
- Kotli Sattian Tehsil
- Murree Tehsil
- Rawalpindi Tehsil
- Taxila Tehsil

In 1901 Punjab Census, the Sikhs numbered 26,363, Hindus 57,325, and the Muslims being 466,918 83%. But between 1901 and 1931, there was a large number of Hindus converting to Sikhism. By 1947, there would have been more than 100,000 Sikhs In this district, and also the population growing.
