Ruth Gavison
Israeli legal scholar, professor and civil rights activist
Ruth Gavison (Hebrew: רות גביזון; March 28, 1945 – August 15, 2020) was an Israeli Law professor. She was born in Jerusalem. She worked at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. She was a member of the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities.[1] In 2011, she won the Israel Prize.
Gavison was nominated for a position on Israel's Supreme Court in 2005 but failed to secure a majority for the appointment.[2]
Gavison died on August 15, 2020 in Jerusalem at the age of 75.[3]
