Sabbaruddin Chik
Tan Sri Sabbaruddin bin Chik (13 December 1941 – 4 December 2021) was a Malaysian politician who served as the Minister of Culture, Arts, and Tourism from 1987 to 1996.
Chik started his political career by winning the Temerloh parliamentary seat, which he held from 1982 to 1999. From 1982 to 1987, he served as Deputy Finance Minister in Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad’s cabinet. He was then appointed as Minister of Culture, Arts, and Tourism from 1987 to 1996.
Chik was the chairman of several companies, including Amanah Raya Berhad, Bank Kerjasama Rakyat Malaysia Berhad, and Eden Inc. Berhad.
Chik passed away from COVID-19 at University Malaya Medical Centre in Kuala Lumpur on 4 December 2021, at the age of 79, during the COVID-19 pandemic in Malaysia.[1]
