Sainte-Rose is the second biggest village of Guadeloupe, by surface area. Only Petit-Bourg is bigger. In 2019, 17,985 people lived there. Sainte-Rose is located in the north of the island Basse-Terre. Tourism is important in the commune. Sugarcane is grown for the production of rhum agricole, there are two distilleries.
