Samy Azer

Australian medical educator

Samy A. Azer is an Egyptian-born Australian physician author and medical educator. He was honoured to contribute to medical education in several countries, including the University of Sydney and the University of Melbourne in Australia, the University of Toyama in Japan, the Universiti Teknologi MARA in Malaysia, and King Saud University in Saudi Arabia.

Career

He graduated in medicine and completed his training in gastroenterology. He obtained his PhD from the University of Sydney and a Master in Education from the University of New South Wales, in Australia. He is a fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology and a fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine. He was a Senior Lecturer at the University of Sydney and the University of Melbourne. He is a visiting professor at the University of Toyama, Japan and was a professor of Medical Education at Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia. Professor Azer was a consultant to the Victorian Postgraduate Medical Foundation (VMPF), Australia. He has been invited as keynote speaker to South East Asia, Sweden, Turkey, the Middle East countries and the United States. He has over 100 original articles published in scientific journals. He is Editor at PLOS ONE, Editor at MEDICINE, and on the World Journal of Gastroenterology and BMC Medical Education.
