Schola Cantorum
musical academy set up in the late 19th century
La Schola Cantorum is a private music school in Paris. It was started in 1894 by Charles Bordes, Alexandre Guilmant and Vincent d'Indy. It was to make up for the Paris Conservatoire's emphasis on opera. Its past students are many significant figures in 20th century music.
