Scinax imbegue

Scinax imbegue is a frog. It lives in Brazil. Scientists have seen it up to 700 meters above sea level. It lives in forests where the trees are not too close together.[1][2]

Appearance change

The adult male frog is 25.6–35.0 mm long from nose to rear end and the adult female frog is 28.8–38.0 mm long. This frog is dark brown in color with darker stripes. Sometimes it has two white stripes from each eye to its middle. Not all frogs have this white stripes. There is a dark brown mark between its eyes. Its belly and the place where the legs meet the body is lighter brown. It has disks on its toes for climbing. Not all frogs in this species have the same webbed skin on their feet. Some have more webbing and some have less.[3]

Name change

The scientific name of this frog is from the Tupí-guarani language. I mbegue means "it is slow." This is for the frog's slow heart.[3]
