Shapur I's victory relief at Naqsh-e Rustam

Shapur I's victory relief at Naqsh-e Rustam is a rock carving located 3 kilometers north of Persepolis. It is one of the eight Sassanid rock carvings in Naqsh-e Rustam.[1]

This relief depicts a scene in which, Valerian, the Roman Emperor is kneeling before Shapur I, whom he defeated at the Battle of Edessa. This was the first and only time a Roman emperor was taken prisoner.[1]
