Sigur Rós (English pronunciation: /ˈsɪɡər ˈrɒs/, ˈsɪːɣʏr ˈrouːs) is an Icelandic post-rock band. The band was started in 1994 by Jón Þór "Jónsi" Birgisson, Georg Hólm, and Ágúst Ævar Gunnarsson. In 1997 they released their first album Von. Their best known tune is Hoppipola released in 2006
