Simborgarmärket

swimming award in Sweden

Simborgarmärket is an award given to any person who can swim at least 200 meter. He or she can choose which stroke to use. The award was first awarded on 8 July 1934. It was established on the initiative of David Jonason. The ambition was increase the number of people able to swim. It was originally only awarded to people aged 16 and older. Girls and women originally only needed to swim 150 meters.[1]
