Thaal Sinestro (/θɑːl sɪˈnɛstr/) is a fictional supervillain appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics.

Fictional character biography

Sinestro is a former Green Lantern Corps member who was dishonorably discharged for abusing his power. He is the archenemy of Green Lantern and founder of the Sinestro Corps, though he occasionally has acted in anti-heroic roles as well.

The character was created by John Broome and Gil Kane, and first appeared in Green Lantern (vol. 2) # 7 (August 1961).

In 2009, IGN ranked Sinestro as the 15th Greatest Comic Book Villain of All Time.[1]

The character has been adapted to different forms of media, including toys, television series, and video games. Mark Strong portrays Sinestro in the live-action movie Green Lantern.[2]
