Sling Blade is a 1996 American psychological drama movie directed by Billy Bob Thornton (who also stars) and was based on the 1994 short movie Some Folks Call It a Sling Blade by Billy Bob Thornton. It also stars Dwight Yoakam, Robert Duvall, J. T. Walsh, John Ritter, Natalie Canerday, Jim Jarmusch, Mickey Jones and was distributed by Miramax Films. It was nominated for 2 Oscars and won an Academy Award in 1997.
