Stalinist architecture is an architectural style that was used in the Soviet Union, when it was led by Joseph Stalin. It is also known as Stalinist style. It lasted from 1933 to 1955. The first such building was the Palace of the Soviets, which was never built. It is associated with Socialist realism. Stalinist architecture has also been known as socialist classicism. During the 1960s, Modern architecture replaced Stalinist architecture.
