Talk:Infinity

Infinity is not a number, but a symbol. Could anybody correct it? (Please see w:en:Infinity for explanation).

Worse, it is an idea. Those are the hardest things to explain. Shenme 8 July 2005 03:26 (UTC)

Divide by zero change

It is not right to say "a number divided by zero is infinity". It is more complicated. Mathematicians say that a number divided by zero is not allowed. Some maths gives us the answer of infinity. Some maths gives the answer of zero. It is said that the answer can not be known. Mathematicians change the maths to look for new ways to get an answer without divide by zero. See en:divide_by_zero. Infinity In Mathematics change

"Example: 100 is like infinity for 0.00001 if the first term is started from 0.00001. Likewise 10000000000000000000000000 is like infinity for 10 if the first term is started from 10." What does this mean? Can we delete it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 18.189.20.48 (talkcontribs)
