Talk:List of Pakistani writers

Reg the one combined list of Pakistani writers change

Hello, while this one combined list of Pakistani writers might be ok (covering all Pakistani literature in several languages used here today) I still think it wasnt a very good idea t merge the List of Pakistani English writers herein; the names couldve been added here but the separate list shouldve been allowed to stay. Pakistani English is a proper, recognised form or language and has a considerable literature being written in it, and some writers are needless to say, more famous or 'notable' than others, but that doesnt mean other writers arent notable. Indeed there are several Pakistani writers in English who are very well known and probably more popular here, in Pakistan, than their more 'famous' counterparts abroad. Some obvious examples are Jocelyn Orc-Saeed (or Ortt-Saeed in some editions), who is settled here for a long time and is probably not much read abroad but there are millions of Pakistanis familiar with her; and in the same way, Taufiq Rafat, who is one of the true pioneers of Pakistani English poetry; and Ejaz Rahim, one of the newer lot of well known poets, and Shehryar Rashid, who died tragicaly early but left some work that is exceptionally popular still in South Asia; and GF Riaz and so on . I really feel strongly that the special role and place of Pakistani English literature overt the last 67 or so years, needs to be focused on, as a unique genre in our literary traditions.
