Talk:NATO phonetic alphabet

The NATO phonetic alphabet, when written out, uses non-English spellings for Alfa (not Alpha) and Juliett (not Juliet) in order to avoid confusion when read by non-English speakers. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NATO_phonetic_alphabet#History for more on the subject.
