GA comments
changeAt this stage the article is looking pretty good. I have mad a couple of minor changes to improve the meaning of some parts that I felt were unclear. I will have to check its reading levels, but I think they will close to what is required. I would like to see a red link filled in for the premaxilla bone - as this is one of the only two bones that exist for the creature, it should be very clear what the bone is. I know that some artifacts have been recovered from the fire at the Museum, any update on these fossils yet? --Peterdownunder (talk) 12:03, 12 November 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks for the edits and for taking a look, Peterdownunder! I'll get to making that premaxilla article when I can. As for the museum, it'll probably be a while before the salvage crew working there can confirm which fossils were destroyed and which ones survived, given that a lot of the rubble and fallen specimens from the upper floors still need to be cleared. I think a few specimens have been recovered already, but Brazilian authorities are keeping the details confidential until they can be moved to a secure location. ▼PσlєοGєєкƧɊƲΔƦΣƉ▼ 15:55, 12 November 2018 (UTC)
Reading levels
changeA quick check shows that it is close, but still needs work:
- Flesch Reading Ease score: 52.4 (text scale) - fairly difficult to read. I would prefer a score higher than 60. However in scientific articles which have to use a number of technical terms, this is not always easy to achieve.
- Gunning Fog: 9.5 (text scale) - fairly easy to read. Good score here, closer to 8 would be even better.
- Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level: 9.6 - again close, but a score of 8 would be a good target.
- The Coleman-Liau Index: 9 - same as Flesch-Kincaid
- The SMOG Index: 9.7 - matches Flesch - Kincaid
- Automated Readability Index: 7.1 , Grade level: 11-13 yrs. old (Sixth and Seventh graders) - a great score on this test.
- Linsear Write Formula : 9 Grade level: Ninth Grade. Again matches the Flesch-Kincaid.
I will go over the text again this week (Nov 12) to see how we could improve these scores - GA articles need to show excellence in writing in Simple English. --Peterdownunder (talk) 12:20, 12 November 2018 (UTC)
- A close look shows that there are a large number of multi-syllable words (about 18%), which you would expect in an article about a dinosaur. These words will give a more complex reading score. I have been looking at ways to reduce the number of these words. Obliviously many will be needed, so I am looking at simplifying as many of the non essential words as possible.--Peterdownunder (talk) 20:59, 12 November 2018 (UTC)
