Title change

Re "The title of this talk page is wrong due to some limitations. The right title is Text linguistics".

Always discuss proposals on talk pages, not anywhere else. You will note that the term 'text grammar' is in two of the references, and we go by reliable references. If you still think the title should be changed, please give reasons here. Macdonald-ross 13:21, 23 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Okay point noted. I do not dispute the existence of the term, but if you realise text grammar actually refers to the grammar of the text. The study or discipline is text linguistics, refer to EN Wikipedia. Corroborated with other academic sources. Minor or Prime 14:43, 23 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
Well, the whole area of linguistics is plagued by alternative or overlapping terms. 'Discourse analysis' is a common alternative to text analysis. The 'Text linguistics' article on enWP is one paragraph long with one reference, so it's scarcely helpful. This page did not use it as a basis and, in any event, we make our own decisions. Since the page is in the linguistics category, interested people can find it. More redirects can be added as needed. We have to be restrained about moving names because a case could be made for moving almost any title. Here it's clear that some academics use one term, some use another. That (IMO) is not adequate grounds for a move. Macdonald-ross 08:48, 24 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
